Premier League Title Contenders

With next season looming in horizon, buzz has already started on predicting who the next EPL champion is going to be. This season comes with a promise of being highly competitive, as there are multiple contenders unlike the 2 horse race that took place last time. With host of signings from most of the teams and transfer market still open, lets hope for a better season not just within England but in Europe also. EPL has always been open competition unlike La Liga where its always Real or Barcelona. It s going to be fun predicting the champion with Defending Champions leading the pack closely followed by re-fueled Chelsea and ever fighting United.

Below is the analysis of top title contenders this time

Manchester City: Defending Champions and by far the best team in England. As much as it hurts for a United fan to concede, City were better team whole of the last season and if not for Balotelli/Tevez antics they would have secured title far early. City arguably has the best attacking resources in Europe with Aguero leading the pack. He is one of the consistent strikers in Europe with 27, 21, 19, 27 & 30 goals in last five years. With Tevez, Balotelli & Dzeko they have 3 world class strikers as backup. Team's midfield has to be the best in Europe after Barcelona. With Silva, Nasri, De Jong, Yaya & Milner city boasts a midfield of incredible stature. In the heart of defense is the best defender in England Company. He is ably supported by Zabaleta, Lescott, Clichy, Toure and to top it City have the best keeper in England. City looks the most complete team with a bench stronger than half of the premier league teams. And they have a shrewd manager in Mancini who has tasted success in many leagues. Its true that City has not been active in Transfer market, but they need not. Unless something goes really wrong with Mancini City should retain title this year.

Chelsea FC: Team that is most active in transfer market and only team who can compete with City in terms money. Roman has spent lot of money on club over the years and this year is no different. With De Bruyne, Hazard and almost signed Oscar Chelsea has signed 3 most exciting mid fielders of world football. These 3 should add plenty of pace to the fragile midfield we saw last year. Add to this Juan Mata who was best Chelsea player last season there is a huge improvement in midfield. Lampard, Essien and Mikel will remain for the experience. If Torres can pull up the socks and show us the form that made $50 million worth in Liverpool, Chelsea should be serious contenders this time. Defense including goalie Cech has always been good for Chelsea and the same can be expected this time. So lot depends on Torres, if he fires with the attacking midfield Chelsea got they can go all the way.

Manchester United: Team that is most successful in England. History is what brings United into contention. Over the years they have been one team which is always there no matter what. With Sir Alex pulling the strings in background you can never count them out. With Rooney, Welbeck & Hernandez United have decent attack, however signing Van Persie(as in rumors) would definitely help. With Nani, Valencia & Young both the wings are more than secure. Midfield & Defense is the area of concern for United. With all dues respect to Scholsey & Gigsey both are past their prime and their potential replacements Cleverley, Anderson & Carrick have left lot to be desired. Signing Powell & Kagawa are steps in the right direction, but to be a champion midfield needs to step up. Defense is the same story again. Ferdinand, Evra are in decline. Jones, Evans, Smalling promised, but did not deliver. Return of Vidic should boast the defense. De Gea should do Ok. United can still win, but lots of improvement is required in midfield, defense and of course some magic from Rooney.

Of other teams Spurs look weaker with departure of Modric. On top of you never know which way it goes with AVB. Arsenal as always looks to be the team for 4th Champions league spot. Liverpool is getting better, but not there yet. This looks to be a interesting season, but if I have to put my money on it it will be on defending champions.

Cheers,
Ravi

All about Writing

People do have several reasons why they start blogging. My reason is I am bored. As a matter of fact I am writing something because I don't have anything else to do. For the first time in 5 years of my career, I am completely free. Some may call it a good thing, but alas! pain of complete prolonged freedom nobody understands. I did enjoy the free time for a week but now it is intolerable and hence my attempt at blogging.

Its so funny that I can relentlessly brood for hours and yet struggle to write couple of paragraphs. After introspecting why it is so difficult for me, I decided to list down the attributes every writer must have(Which I don't have yet ).

  • Vocabulary: The toughest thing whenever I sit to scribble couple of lines is choice of words. I realize how small my dictionary is and I am ashamed that after 5 years of IT work I hardly know any English.  Its not always about use of Complicated fancy Words. It is about communicating effectively with impressive yet simple words. And So first step for me is to improve my Vocabulary. For now I think I will read more, that should help.
  • Knowledge/Study: This is for me the most important aspect of any write up. Whenever I read something, all I look for is "What Am I going to gain from this?". A techie reads technical blogs to acquire more technical knowledge, A Sports freak will read Harsha  Bhogle so that he improved his Sports Knowledge and so on. So its utmost important to fill facts in a write up. More the facts better the blog. And how can one write more facts, by improving his knowledge of field Or Study/Research about what he is going to write.
  • Creativity: I knew a friend of mine who was a novice in writing like me, yet I always enjoyed his blogs. So did many other people. Not underestimating his writing skills, he wasn't a genius in writing. But he knew how to make his blogs catchy. He would do Simple stuffs like adding images, have couple of jokes in blog etc.. Overall the package was always impressive. So bottom line it pays to be little creative and it will definitely cover other shortcomings.
Hopefully some day I will develop these qualities and I will be a decent blogger. Hope for the best.

Cheers for new begining,
Ravi
